Experience the Charm of the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival

The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival (NOFF) returns to Memorial Park and Renne Field in Newberg, Oregon, from Thursday, July 25th, to Sunday, July 28th, 2024. This annual celebration offers a delightful blend of traditional entertainment, community spirit, and family fun.

The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival, deeply rooted in local history, began in 1921 as the Newberg Berrian Festival. Established to emulate the vibrant energy of the Portland Rose Festival, NOFF aimed to showcase the unique charm and commercial vitality of Newberg. Evolving over the decades, the festival adapted to changing times and eventually adopted its current name in 1981.

The NOFF logo emphasizes the fun and festive atmosphere.

Today, NOFF continues to captivate attendees with its timeless appeal. The festival boasts a diverse array of attractions, including a lively carnival, captivating live music performances, a cultural stage showcasing local talent, a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by the Rotary Club, and a charming dog costume contest.

The Grand Parade: A NOFF Highlight

The centerpiece of the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival is undoubtedly the grand parade, scheduled for Saturday, July 27th at 10 a.m. The procession begins on the east side of Renne Field, proceeds north on South Meridian Street, turns west onto East 2nd Street, meanders along South Main Street, returns to South Blaine Street via East 3rd Street, and concludes on the west side of Renne Field.

This year’s Grand Parade Marshals are Tom and Linda Vondrachek, former owners of the beloved 1950s-themed restaurant, Jem100. The Vondracheks, who retired in April 2024, passed the torch to their daughter and son-in-law, ensuring the continuation of this local favorite.

Meet the 2024 NOFF Royal Court

The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Royal Court, comprised of young women aged 16 to 18, serves as ambassadors for the town. Selected through a competitive application process, these exceptional individuals participate in community events, honing their public speaking skills and fostering valuable connections. In addition to representing Newberg, court members receive a wardrobe, a $500 scholarship, and invaluable experience. A junior court program for 11- to 13-year-olds also allows younger community members to participate in the festivities.

Queen Kyndall McCollum and Princess Elise Steffen, both active in their school and community, expressed their excitement and honor in representing the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival. They shared fond memories of attending the festival as children and their aspirations to embody the positive spirit of Newberg.

The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival offers a captivating glimpse into the heart of this charming Oregon town. With its rich history, diverse attractions, and strong community involvement, NOFF promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
