Imposter Fashion: Exploring Anime Fashion at Otakon

Attending Otakon without a co-host is daunting. The convention is massive, making comprehensive coverage a challenge even for a team. Despite this, a determined effort will be made to document the event’s highlights. A pre-Otakon podcast is available for download to prepare attendees for the convention.

Two panels will be hosted at the convention: “New Anime for Older Fans” on Saturday at 10:15 AM in Room 152A and “Star-Crossed Alien Lovers…in Robots!” on Sunday at 12:45 PM in Room 151B. These panels promise engaging discussions and insights for anime enthusiasts.

Attending these diverse panels will provide a comprehensive overview of current trends and historical perspectives in anime.

The schedule includes panels focused on fashion in anime, such as “Fake Fashion and Vintage Vandalism: A Designer Tour Through the Fashion of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” on Saturday. This panel will delve into the unique and often outrageous fashion choices of characters in the popular anime series, examining the inspiration and cultural influences behind them. This session will be invaluable for understanding imposter fashion in anime.

Friday’s schedule is packed with events, starting with “Urusei Yatsura: 40+ Years, Datcha!” at 9:00 AM and concluding with “Aren’t You a Little Old for This? – Fandom and Functional Adulthood” at 9:30 PM.
