Harkins Fashion Mall Chandler: Entertainment Beyond the Big Screen

Harkins Theatres, known for its movie theaters, is expanding into the entertainment sector with a new concept at Chandler Fashion Center mall in Chandler, Arizona. The Scottsdale-based company plans to open a 64,000-square-foot multi-entertainment venue called “Harkins Backlot.”

According to plans filed with the City of Chandler, Harkins Backlot will offer a variety of attractions beyond just movies. The venue will feature a laser tag arena, bowling alleys (including duckpin bowling), a vintage arcade with a redemption area, and sports simulators for interactive gaming experiences.

Harkins Backlot will also include a full-service bar and restaurant, a dedicated dining area, private party rooms for special occasions, and an outdoor patio with backyard-style games like giant cup pong. This comprehensive entertainment destination aims to provide something for everyone, from families to adults.

The project represents a significant expansion for Harkins beyond its traditional cinema offerings. While known for its buttered popcorn and movie screenings, Harkins Backlot at Chandler Fashion Mall signals a move towards diversified entertainment.

The addition of Harkins Backlot complements the existing entertainment options at Chandler Fashion Center, which already includes a Harkins movie theater, Crayola Experience, Escape The Room, and PLAYlive Nation. This new venue will further solidify the mall’s position as a premier entertainment destination in the East Valley.

While an official opening date has not been announced, the project is currently undergoing city approval processes. The potential opening of Harkins Backlot at Harkins Fashion Mall Chandler is highly anticipated and promises to bring a new level of entertainment to the area. Harkins has been actively updating its existing theaters throughout Arizona as part of a larger renovation project, demonstrating its commitment to providing quality entertainment experiences.
