Harkins Theatres, known for its movie-going experience, is expanding its entertainment offerings at Chandler Fashion Center with a new concept called Harkins Backlot. This 64,000-square-foot entertainment venue will be located on the upper level of the mall, in the former Sears building.
Harkins Backlot promises a diverse range of activities beyond the traditional cinema experience. Plans include a laser tag arena for adrenaline-pumping fun, bowling and duckpin bowling lanes for friendly competition, and a vintage arcade and redemption area for nostalgic gaming. Sports simulators will offer interactive athletic experiences, while an outdoor patio will feature backyard-style games like giant cup pong.
The entertainment complex will also feature a full-service bar and restaurant, providing dining options for guests. Dedicated party rooms will be available for private events and celebrations. The combination of entertainment and dining aims to create a comprehensive leisure destination for families, friends, and individuals.
The project, which is still pending city approval, signifies Harkins’ commitment to diversifying its entertainment portfolio. In recent years, Harkins has invested in renovating several Arizona theaters and announced a new 12-screen cinema in Laveen.
The addition of Harkins Backlot to Chandler Fashion Center enhances the mall’s existing entertainment offerings. The mall currently houses a traditional Harkins movie theater, Crayola Experience, Escape The Room, and PLAYlive Nation, providing a variety of entertainment choices for visitors. Harkins Backlot aims to further solidify Chandler Fashion Center as a premier entertainment destination in the East Valley.
