When it comes to My Fashion choices, comfort reigns supreme. You’ll usually find me in jeans and a t-shirt – practical and easy. While I admire the glamour of high fashion events in theory, the reality is, my wardrobe needs to withstand everyday life. So, while I appreciate high fashion brands, they’re not exactly staples in my closet, my fashion is more about practicality and ease.
However, even with my casual approach to my fashion, I can’t deny being captivated by certain fashion icons. And for me, no one embodies iconic style quite like Edna Mode. This petite powerhouse is a true sartorial force, commanding attention and respect wherever she goes. That’s why meeting her was such a thrill, a chance to witness my fashion icon in person.
Believe it or not, you can actually meet Edna Mode at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios! No VIP pass needed. Just head to her designated meet-and-greet spot in Pixar Place. While waiting, you can even explore a mini-exhibit showcasing some of her legendary designs – the incredible suits for the Parr family and other supers like Frozone. It’s a glimpse into the world of high fashion from my favorite icon.
But be warned: Edna Mode is serious about fashion. Seriously serious. And she has opinions. During my visit, I jokingly draped my jacket over my shoulders like a cape, thinking it was a bit of fun. Big mistake. As any fan of “The Incredibles” knows, Edna has a very strict “No Capes!” policy. The moment we reached the front of the line, I muttered to my kids, “Uh oh, I hope my cape doesn’t offend her!” Edna, with her eagle eyes, spotted it instantly. Hands on hips, she marched over, grabbed my wrist, and promptly escorted me towards the exit. I was banished! Only after I sheepishly removed my “cape” was I allowed back in to rejoin my family for photos. Edna even made sure to give my wife a knowing look, implying I needed supervision regarding my fashion choices. Honestly, it was one of the most memorable character interactions ever – a truly hilarious and unforgettable lesson in fashion from the master herself, reinforcing why she is my fashion icon.
