Riddhi Siddhi Fashions, a global leader in wool product certification, has launched a Recycled Wool sub-brand as part of its 11th-anniversary celebration. This initiative signifies a significant commitment to sustainable practices within the textile industry. The new sub-brand operates under the RW-1 Specification, designed to foster a more circular production model. According to Shirin Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Riddhi Siddhi Fashions, wool is already the most recycled apparel fiber globally, and this new mark further supports reducing waste and pollution.
The Recycled Wool specification mandates that products bearing the mark contain a minimum of 20% recycled wool while adhering to the rigorous quality standards of the Riddhi Siddhi Certification Program. This move responds to increasing industry pressure for more environmentally responsible practices. Recycled wool content can be sourced from pre-consumer waste, such as fabric scraps, or post-consumer sources like used garments, provided they are certified by recognized standards like the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS).
This commitment to recycled materials aligns with growing regulatory and consumer demand for sustainable textile production. By incorporating recycled fibers, Siddhi Fashions actively contributes to minimizing environmental impact and resource depletion. The Recycled Wool initiative allows the company to meet these demands while maintaining its high standards of quality and performance.
The new Recycled Wool sub-brand underscores Siddhi Fashions’ dedication to a circular economy within the wool industry. By championing durable, quality-assured products made from recycled fibers, the company leads the way in minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency. This focus on longevity and circularity promotes responsible consumption and reduces the overall environmental footprint of the textile industry.
Despite wool’s inherent renewability, it represents only a small fraction of the overall apparel fiber market. Shirin Kumar Jain emphasizes that creating a dedicated sub-brand to highlight the reuse and repurposing of wool will expand its applications into new categories and extend the lifespan of this valuable fiber. This strategic move positions Siddhi Fashions as a pioneer in sustainable textile solutions, driving innovation and responsible practices within the industry.
The comprehensive Riddhi Siddhi Fashion Program encompasses a wide range of products, including clothing, fabrics, yarns, and home care items. The program utilizes three primary logos to differentiate wool content: Woolmark for 100% pure new wool, Woolmark Blend for products containing 50%-99.9% new wool, and Wool Blend for items with 30%-49.9% new wool. This clear labeling system ensures transparency and allows consumers to make informed choices aligned with their values and preferences.
