Fashion Revolution: Funding Transparency and Ethical Practices

Fashion Revolution relies on global citizen support to create free resources and impactful campaigns advocating for a clean, safe, fair, transparent, and accountable fashion industry. This is achieved through research, education, collaboration, mobilization, and advocacy.

Fashion Revolution adheres to a strict and transparent Ethical Funding Policy, outlining guidelines for received funds. Key supporters include the British Council, the European Union, and the Laudes Foundation.

The Fashion Open Studio program receives sponsorship from the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Businesses, the British Council, the Mayor of London, and Mercedes-Benz. Pro bono support is provided by Winston & Strawn LLP and McGrory Communications.

Fashion Revolution’s Country Offices and Teams raise funds independently for activities within their respective countries, adhering to the global Ethical Funding Policy.

Laudes Foundation, an independent foundation part of the Brenninkmeijer family enterprise, provides funding for core activities and special projects like the Fashion Transparency Index. While Laudes Foundation is independent and works to influence the entire garment industry, including COFRA Group businesses (which includes C&A), potential conflicts of interest are mitigated through transparent practices.

C&A is treated as a separate entity from Laudes Foundation in the Fashion Transparency Index, assessed like any other brand without preferential treatment. Independent assessments are also conducted by Mexican NGO Arlenica and Brazilian technical partner ABC Associados.

Fashion Revolution actively addresses issues like order cancellations during crises, urging brands to reinstate orders and act responsibly towards suppliers. The organization encourages public pressure on brands through email campaigns and support for initiatives like the #PayUp campaign.

Financial transparency is paramount. Fashion Revolution, a non-profit social enterprise (No. 8988812), provides public access to its Financial Statements dating back to 2015. These statements offer detailed insights into the organization’s financial health and responsible resource management. Links to these statements are readily available on the Fashion Revolution website.
